Hi Rikki,
No these jobs aren't "too good to be true", I've been working 25+ years at many great vacation resorts worldwide. The best way to find any resort job when you have no experience is to actually go to the resort and find out if there hiring for your field. A good indicator I find is when walking around town you see booths giving away tours, shows, gifts then you know that that property is looking for staff. Once you're in then you'll know who's hiring and where.

Here's what I do in those situations, I use the RCI online directory and search the resorts in a particular area and give them a call and find out if they are still selling. Usually if a resort has a sales track running, there's a chance you can find who you're looking for, or maybe someone that knows someone that knows who you're looking for.

Thanks a million Daniel, I appreciate the information. Years ago in Canada I was close personal friends with Roland Lafreniere who I believe is still very much involved in the business here in Mexico. Unfortunately I have lost contact, but for certain he would be a great resource, if I can find him. Is there a registry or membership group of timeshare pros? Thanks again.

Hi Patrick,
To answer your question my answer is this, don't let your age hold you back! Case and point, I have a good friend whom I've worked with up in the past and just as recently as 2 months ago. His name is Henry Emond. He is the top salesman at Club Privilege in Mont Tremblant, Quebec. and one of the top performers in the company for over 15 years. By the way, Henry will be 74 this year! Is his age a disadvantage to him? Absolutely no. I have to add that it's probably an advantage he's 73, because on any table he goes to, whether young or old he always has a common ground with them. Hell he's the only one on the sales team that you ask to find someone in a certain industry, and he'll pick it out of over 5000 business cards on the wall of fame!
To answer your next question you can check out our Featured Timeshare Jobs section and when you find the position you want, just call them up or if you are in the area and you know a certain resort is selling, just ask to meet the Project Director or the Sales Manager.
Another great way is to find out where the local timeshare sales staff watering hole is, they all have one, and you'll definitely make the right connections.
By the way Patrick, you should sign up for our Beachfront Job Alerts to keep up to date on the new opportunities that become available.
Go for it! You never know who you'll meet at the resort.

Not so much a comment as a request for infomation. I live in northern Mexico, but after 20 years I am anxious to relocate further south. I read, write and speak Spanish and English and have the required visa to work. I have a friend who has been a marketing manager at several resorts but have lost contact with him over the years; at this juncture I wish I hadn't. My concern is that my age might preclude me from consideration for employment opportunities. At 71 years of age, I enjoy excellent health, am still good physical shape and vital. Over the years I have been successfuly involved in a variety of sales and sales management positions. I am an outgoing but serious individual who is comfortable in any company, from board room to bar and people seem to 'warm' to me very quickly. These are my questions: Is my age a deterrent? Can I approach a resort in person or must I use a service? Can I compete for sales and or marketing positions without first being an OPC. Any information that anyone can offer would be very much appreciated. I can be reached through my Email golfo_ltd@yahoo.com Thank you so much!
